Won't You Be My Neighbor?

Got an extra $40M in pocket change and need 18,000 sq feet of house?  I've found your new crash pad.

This house (and I use the term loosely because it's more like an urban palace) is the most prime location in Brooklyn Heights. The price is ridiculous and the interiors are over the top but check out that view! Imagine me sitting in my ratty pajamas, blogging from that terrace!  A girl can dream, right?

The details in this place are amazing but its in desperate need of a little modernity to balance the grandness. You would have thought $40 million smackers would at least get you updated bathrooms but you know what they say about location, location, location. One thing is for certain about the current owners - they aren't afraid of color. Check out the full listing here.

  1. Wow what a cool place - but I agree needs a little cosmetic lift on the inside.

  3. I've been dying over all those houses that back on to the BH promenade since my very first walk down there. I always say if (when?) I win the lottery, that's the neighborhood I'd choose. Sigh.

  4. Amazing! The price is a *little* steep, but what a fun project it would be to update!!!

  5. I'll take it! I have been meaning to downsize to something more affordable and low maintenance... ;-)

  6. It definitely needs some cosmetic work but has good bones!

  7. As is now if we just dim the lights and add some cobwebs the Addams family could move right in. It needs a whole lot of freshening up that's for sure but I still think it's lovely. The rooms are grand and hold a lot of potential. I'd love to get my hands on it except for that little problem of it being $40M. I'd love to see it after the new buyer gives it a facelift.

  11. Dunno, bit below my price range. :)

That view is to DIE for! I would totally put up with some renovations for that!

  12. Wow, amazing views - which you would need after looking at the interiors. ;) I've always lived in the country without seeing any houses nearby through half the year. I've always wondered what it would be like to live in a loft apartment somewhere. Love the porch & the little garden with this house.
