Obsessed: Anthropologie Arcadia Wall Mural

Thursday, February 18, 2016

I am seriously obsessed with this wall mural from Anthropologie.

Let me count the ways.  The Visual Vamp transformed her bedroom....

Miss Mustard Seed crushed this bathroom ...

Red House West escalated a playroom...

Normally I'm super anti wallpaper as I've suffered the trauma of taking it down in 1 cm pieces at a time.  But this one says its easy to remove.  Do I believe the hype?

I would have already hung it in my daughters bedroom if it wasn't a bit too small for the open wall.  That leaves me with the option of framing it out with some picture molding (kind of like how Makerista did in her gorgeous dining room) but I would really prefer the whole wall covered so I'm torn.

I hope I find a spot for it because its perfectly moody and beautiful to me - just like my favorite rooms always are.  What do you think?

  1. I just bought this for my son's 'big boy room'! Waiting on a few other things to happen in the room first before we can prep the walls to hang it. It's a smaller room so I'm just crossing my fingers it isn't terribly overwhelming and nauseating, although seeing it in that bathroom above gives me some hope. Wish me luck!

  2. I share your obsession. I have this on one of my Pinterest boards. Or maybe two. It's gorgeous!

  3. I like the idea of framing it out. I have a long wall, with two windows, and I'm actually going to paper just between the two windows (that section is about 8' long). Rather than pasting it on the walls I'm thinking of making a lightweight frame (out of furring strips?) and hang it much like a giant picture.

  4. I've been trying to figure out where to hang it in my house for 3 years now. (Answer: nowhere)

  5. I'm also trying to figure out if I could hang this Rebel Walls wallpaper (in the same vein)

  8. I suppose it's too big for the unloved bathroom? But it does make me even more sure that some sort of map/mural-ish type thing would be great in there!

    1. I would love to use it there but the scale of the mural is way too big for the very small amount of wall that is available in the bathroom.

  9. Which way is too small (top/bottom or left/right?) I have one end panel left from when we did our kitchen bar (https://instagram.com/p/BAI4m5zHiix/), you're welcome to have it if that fixes your problem! Because our ceilings were pitched, the area behind the fridge isn't papered - we painted it with paint that matches the dark charcoal colour and that also looks totally acceptable too. With a small bit of picture molding painted in the white it could even look intentional?

  10. Really love how dramatic that is. Low contrast and pale colors make it livable whereas bright colored murals can be off putting.
