I would keep the better illustrated travel books--like Insight Guides -- and put aside the more pedestrian and useful guides like Frommers, Fodors, Steves, etc. I would also look for and keep "boutique" guides like any of the Karen Brown series. And I would read and keep specialty travel writers -- one of my old favorites Kate Simon (d. 1990) and the memorable Freya Stark. These with your photos and voila! a collection.
