I don't know if that would make it too industrial looking, but they come in different diameters and finishes, & I'm sure you could paint one very easily. It's basically just a round metal frame that already has casters attached. It may give it enough height to suit your husband :) You can just google "drum dolly" to see exactly what I'm talking about. I think you can find some on amazon for around $50...not sure the diameter on those??? But just a thought! Hope you find a solution that works!TylersGirl0514noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38356705.post-69720445618481399492012-03-15T12:14:13.087-04:002012-03-15T12:14:13.087-04:00Hi, I love what you did with the space, where did ...Hi, I love what you did with the space, where did you get the couch, I've been searching far and wide from something like that.Ritznoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38356705.post-51972234640918237532012-03-07T17:56:28.516-05:002012-03-07T17:56:28.516-05:00Thanks. Funny thi...Love how everything is coming together. Funny thing is that when I saw the alligator head, I immediately thought of a Thai rain drum to use as a coffee table. Certainly would fit the travel motif you have going, in a fun way, at that. Thai rain drums are incredibly expensive so I'm thinking knock off or a good deal at an estate sale. ;) If you're not into switching out the table, (which I totally understand because it is a very nice piece), perhaps use the thai rain drum design as a way to solve your problem. Lots of the drums have what I will call for lack of a better word, "projections" on the top. http://www.raindrums.com/ The pic on this link shows a glass table top on one which elevates the height of the table. It could be an easier fix to lift the top instead of the bottom. Either by placing something that resembles those "pot feet" that lift a terra cotta pot off the ground so the water can drain. (they are called pot feet and are made in different materials not just terra cotta). By adding glass to the top, it elevates the table height, protects that gorgeous marble while still showcasing it, and probably costs a good deal less than trying to jerry-rig the metal table base. Plus if you really had to anchor the "projections" to the marble, it could be done. Just some thoughts.
