All of the photos are lovely and I was particularly intrigued by the one with the sewing machine. I had to look at it twice as I thought it had a typo on it or I was seeing it wrong, saying Singar instead of Singer. I did a little research and found a few other photos online of Singar machines. Fascinating! I wonder if it's an Indian company and if they overlap manufacture of the original Singers.

Thanks! Your mother shouldn't worry - India felt quite safe to me.

As for photographing people - its hit or miss. About half of the people I ask say no and I just move on. In India, there is always something to photograph. Occassionally people go out of their way to pose or smile for a photo which is always nice (like the guy who held up his goat on a far away rooftop to show me!) Its definitely worth being a bit bold to get a good shot. At least thats my view.

I have loved the whole India series. It's been very enlightening and I appreciate that you revealed the travel agency- I don't think my mom would worry so much about my going if I show her your posts :)
You have a such great eye for photography, for capturing scenes and transporting us into that moment. Many times you catch people looking straight at you- I don't think I am quite that bold, but I will try harder, it's a lesson I've learned from you.

I love the bracelet pic! Great post. There is NO WHERE like India and everyone should go at least once. Agree - using an agent and having drivers is super important especially when you have a lot of stops.

For a country where lots of informations and bookings can be done online, I don't use an agent. Its just not necessary - you can easily do it yourself. (I haven't been to Ireland but Paris is extremely easy to DIY). In this case, I wanted someone to help us arrange a good driver and guides in the various cities which is not easy to do online and if you don't speak the language. Off the top of my head, the only other country I felt an agent was needed was China. We took an organized tour there.
