I've done this with some more patterened rugs, and it's invisible (the seam, I mean) if you don't know about it. And, two runners in the 2'6"x8' are cheaper than the 5x8'! I think that the floor for a nursery should be free of rugs. Babies crawl and put things in their mouths. A bare floor is much easier to keep clean and sanitary. Also rugs out-gas chemicals. I would opt for a natural sheepskin rug as a accent. 3 Corner Field Farm in upstate NY has a stand at the Union Sq Greenmarket on Wednesday. She sells beautiful sheep and lamb skins. Natural wool is not germ friendly and is soothing for babies to rest on. I have one in our nursery, just an ikea lambskin over a storage ottoman to temper the print. But so soft, baby would love crawling on it. Also I think they're pretty easy to spot clean, esp if you go faux. And the shag hides stains with the texture and natural shade differences anyways. I say the shag gets my vote! I would get whichever you choose earlier though so you can vac enough times before baby is crawling around in the event any rug sheds. Better in the vac!Ann @ wallsofwhite.blogspotnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38356705.post-87694316312640539882012-10-12T01:36:43.238-04:002012-10-12T01:36:43.238-04:00 I like the rug style ... There will be a lot of distance between window and floor and the 'layering' of colour will be subtle. Some of those spots are definitely coral, just less intense. As for plush rugs, yuk, sick soaks into places you can't see and baby gets fibres wrapped in his little fists then puts his fist in his mouth. Don't go there! My only complaint is that it gets matted rather quickly and makes for an unplesant aesthetic, so I'm constantly "fluffing" it back to life. I'm with you on not waiting for the coral stripe- get as much done as you can now. The last thing you want to be thinking about when you get that little one in your arms is the rug.
