Going with pretty plants rather than flowers was the real game changer - the flowers just don't do that well under my care and then it was becoming self defeating trying to get them to flower that I lost hope. Leaves are more my speed I suppose. Thanks for the tip on the Coleus. Sun exposure is so important to having success with plants and of course plants in containers need water, water, water as well as more fertilizer than in ground plants. Constant watering leaches out all the goodies in the potting soil.
