Take me away...

Its snowing again here. Ugh. We've had a lot of snow this season and while there is certainly some beauty in softly falling flakes, it has gotten way old. Especially when I have to walk through it on the way to work and now the city is just a gray slushy mess. Me.no.likey.

So how do I self medicate? Travel lusting of course!

Just some of the places I'm day dreaming about right now and hope to see in person soon. What's on your wanderlist?

  1. Since I live in Hamburg, Germany, I have it a little easier to travel. Denmark ist just 3 hours away and Amsterdam 5 hours.

I would love to travel to Amsterdam right now. Or Marrakesh. Barcelona or Prague.

If it wouldn't be so cold in the US I would so love to go shopping and sight seeing in NEw York.

  2. The Koala made me smile, which is awesome because I've had a cold for a few days and have done little in the way of smiling. Thanks! I've been told that if you pick one up, they really cling to you and are super "huggy".

  3. I would love to travel to Ireland. Everytime I think I am a little closer to my dream and major house project comes up. I am getting three estimates today for a new roof. I had no idea my roof was so bad until it ruined the den wall by the chimney. Aren't you glad I answered your happy question with such NOT FUN information?

Galway, when will I see you?

  4. I live in the rain and have to admit that I get quite jealous of snowy places. I adore the balloons in India shot.

  5. I figured you were on a vacy with all the guest posts on organizing. I guess I was wrong?

Would LOVE to go anywhere with warm sun and beach. Actually I would be happy with a morningto sleep in without my toddler waking up before the sunrise.

  6. Ugh! I wish it would snow here again...now it's just cold and foggy and "spitting" tiny bits of wannabe rain. Yuck city. Loving these pics...

I love traveling. I've got so many trips planned out in my mind for the next year. You should do a post with a list of all the countries you've been to!

  8. At the other end of the spectrum I am in Melbourne, Australia and have just had 3 days in a row of approx 100 degree temperatures which pretty much leaves you housebound as well - outside it is like an oven and not good when you have a bubs! Thank goodness it is a little cooler today about 85 so we can get out before cabin fever sets in!!! :)

We are having a blizzard right now (near Milwaukee, WI) and my office and daughter's school already closed for tomorrow.

  10. Don't think I've ever commented before, but I enjoy your blog and especially love the travel stories/photos.

If you go to Arenal Volcano I would recommend staying at the Arenal Observatory Lodge. It is a bit out of town, but our room there had a picture perfect view of the volcano right from our bed. And you could hear the rocks crashing down the volcano from the porch.

Many trips are on the wishlist for me right now: Alaska, Hawaii, Iceland, Peru...but probably will be Alaska this year. Plus some shorter trips, Grand Canyon, Montreal Adirondacks or others.

Noooo... Just a heads up - it's not a "koala bear", it's just a "koala" (don't want you to make a fool of yourself if you ever visit Australia and keep saying "koala bear"!) :-)

  14. My next planned trip is to New York! We'll be there next week to join in the grey slushy mess! But the weather can't dampen my spirits - I've planned this trip as a surprise for my husband who has no idea we're even going :) Can't wait to see his face when he finds out we're going to the airport to fly over the ocean instead of going to work :)

Arenal is so beautiful! My husband and I went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon. You would love it!

If you do go, you should check out the Nayara Hotel, Spa and Gardens. It is romantic and has amazing views of the volcano. A trip to Arenal would definitely cure the winter blues :)

By the way, I love your blog! It has become one of my daily reads.

  19. You and I have similar travel experiences (exotic, international, active, but generally fairly quick). My husband and I are brainstorming ideas for a 10-day trip at the start of April for my Spring Break. Where would you go on a nice 10-day trip? We've already ruled out Alaska (too cold), and have been to many countries (most of mainland & central Europe, most of South America, Australia, NZ, Indonesia, northern Africa) so want something new. Some of our "dream" trips need more than 10 days (i.e. Lao, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand for example; China for example). Thoughts?

  22. You'd love Australia, in spite of the terrible weather we've been having lately. We live in Queensland and are lucky enough to have koalas living on our property year round - something that's quite unusual and I never take it for granted. The best part - when new babies are born - they are just divine! K xx
