How do you Hang? (Hex Mirrors)

Did you know Ikea sold hexagonal shaped mirrors? I'm a little obsessed with them and I really want to apply them to the back of my bookshelves.  The only problem is I can't quite figure out a way to do that in a temporary way (so they can be easily removed when I eventually tire of them).
Honefoss Mirrors, set of 10 for $14.99 @ Ikea

So I thought I'd ask you lovelies since you were so helpful when I asked a similar question about my beloved Fornasetti plates in my home office.  Anyone have any clever ideas for this application?

In the meantime, feast your eyes on some beautiful examples of the hex mirrors in action.

  1. What about using Command Velcro Picture Hanging Strips? I use those suckers for everything! It looks like the mirrors are pretty lightweight and the bigger strips hold up to 12lbs. Also, the nice thing with the strips is that if the picture isn't straight, it can be easily adjusted with the Velcro. Good luck, can't wait to see what you end up doing!

Here is an amazon link to what I'm talking about!

    1. I totally love the command picture hangers but I think the thickness of those + the mirror would force my shelves to stick out too much. I think I need something with a slimmer profile. (Although now I want to run home and measure!)

  2. Try the 3M strips!! They're awesome and easily removable.

  3. All I've got is the command strips, too. But they will make the mirrors raise off the wall 1/8-inch or so. What about gluing them to foam board or super thin wood, and pressing that to the back of the shelves?

    1. I think very thin wood would bow unless I glued it to the back of the shelves which would cause a whole other problem. Foam board might is a good idea if I can find pieces large enough. Any idea where I might find it larger than the usual office supply sizes?

  4. You can buy very large foam board at Michael's in the framing department. You have to ask for it--it's in their back room.

  5. I've used very cheap Plasti-tac(or poster putty depending on where you buy it) to hang many things on my walls. It's very cheap & won't damage the surface you're hanging it on. It's best for paper or cardboard but I've hung light plaques & framed pictures with success & left them for years.

  6. There has to be a 3M product that is thinner. Wouldnt' that look so good as a temporary backsplash in a kitchen if they could be trimmed?!

  9. I use the 3M hanging strips for just about everything now and I think they would work great for this little project.
