Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

In the past, I've blogged about simple projects but I'll warn you this one isn't quite so simple. Its just a fun one and I wanted to share.

Mr. Limestone is hosting a bachelor party at Met's baseball game for one of our closest friends. Since its a little bit more involved than a throw together meet up with the boys, invites were in order. Naturally, I was all over the task.

We tossed around a bunch of ideas before settling on this one. Take a peak inside how it went down. A note for the observant: I don't have hairy man hands - thats my husbands guns and I'm behind the camera.

As you can tell from the photos, this took quite a bit of elbow grease and time over several days but I think they were worth it. These are the kinds of invites I love to receive and love to make. (Hint, hint - if and when I ever get a surprise birthday party, a box is invariably more exciting than an envelope.)

Love this! Everything LEB's chic message board

I've been following Everything LEB's blog for a while now but this project just blew me away.

The homemade message boards are nothing new but her take on the project epitomizes style. Simple, cheap, chic and defnitely practical. How amazing would these look in a set of 6 or 9 in an office?
Or with a variety of coordinating fabrics in a family room or nursery? The options are endless.

Thanks for sharing LEB! This is going directly into my idea file for the future.

Frolic on the Fourth

Whether you're having a big bash or taking a lonesome walk on the beach, enjoy the holiday weekend. I'll be trying out my new camera on this year's fireworks but I don't own a tripod so my expectations are low.

Hope to see you back here next week.

Deck Check

Note to self - do not schedule deck building in the middle of wettest weather ever! Thankfully our contractors aren't afraid of a little water and spent a good deal of time under a big plastic tarp but it still took a bit longer than expected.

Here is the progress we had in the first week.

For those outside of the area, don't be alarmed by my postage stamp sized backyard. This is pretty standard around here. The deck is off the second story as our part of the house starts on the second floor (the garden level is where we moved our in-laws into. Up until now we had to go through our in laws apartment to get to our backyard. This deck will give us a little private area as well as direct access to the backyard for us and kitty.

Trust me, the cat is very pleased about this.

More to come. Until then, happy Fourth of July!

Out in the Open

If you're wondering what I was alluding to here, I'm sure most of you figured out that we were putting up a deck in the backyard. Yes, the door-to-nowhere that has graced our dining room for the past 2 years is now a door to a little deck.

I'll be posting more photos later (the rain put a damper on some of my documenting endevors) but until then, I leave you with this little act of vandalism on the steps that lead down to the backyard.
