What I did not do this weekend.

I realize its Tuesday and there is probably some universal blogging rule about talking about weekends after Monday is over. I don't care - my middle name is danger.

As you already know, we picked up the little french bistro table (Sidenote: the table has a stamp on its underside that clearly states 'made in italy' but I still think of it as french. I'm all about breaking the rules today!).

I also had plans on accomplishing one other thing this weekend. Based on what is lacking in this photo, can you guess what I didn't scratch off my list?

I know all you uber observant readers have it now. Some of the people in the back need more time.

Ok, pencils up!

Give yourself 1000 points if you guessed that I still don't have window treatments in my living room. I say "still" because I posted about this severe window nakedness more than two months ago without much to show for it.
But I have been working on it. I swear! After some back and forth, I ended up ordering the budget friendly Jcpenney curtains in bronze. When they arrived, I was totally turned off by the color. Instead of a muted browish taupey color as I had expected based on this photo

they were a brash goldish color with a lot of yellow undertones. Back they went.
So I searched a little more. I wanted to stick to my budget of something in the $100/ panel range. Finally I settled on these from Overstock and waited for them to arrive.

They have arrived. They are a nice color, similar to my beloved Silver Fox paint, with some subtle blue threads running through the drape. Im not really IN LOVE with them but I think they are close.

But despite finally having the panels, I'm still rodless. So another weekend passes me by without drapes. Drats!
And if you are wondering what I did do this weekend, here it is:
Fondue
Fondue!! So yummy!

  2. Honey, at least you have floors and walls. Pat yourself on the back for that!

I did even less than you this weekend if that makes you feel any better. :(

  3. Fondue...I haven't done that in years! I remember it being very delicious. Sounds like the perfect weekend to me!

  4. Eh, that's ok. The windows aren't going anywhere =)

What a gorgeous fondue pot!! Yeesh, even your fruit looks refined. *runs and hides my cheap, scratched-up fondue pot in the closet*

  5. I have a stainless steel fondue pot, which is much better than the olive green or harvest gold pots from the 70s, but not NEARLY as beautiful as yours. Curtain rods or fondue.... Hmmmm. I think you definitely made the right choice!

  8. Nancy - I use a Nikon D50 and switch lens often enough not to be able to tell you which lens Im using when I take a photo. I do use photoshop when it improves the photo and I have time to play. I posted some photography tips earlier this year: http://brooklynlimestone.blogspot.com/2009/02/photography-mrslimestone-style.html

  11. I need to address my windows, too -- but much prefer fondue. :-)

And that magnolia (I think?) photo is quite lovely!

  12. haha, I was focusing on the flower :-)

Ok, love the picture of the curtains from jcpenny and also the ones you bought. They look so elegant and I can picture them up in your room. Hope you find some rods soon.

Fondue.....I took my kids out for that last Thursday (eldest daughter needed a bit of cheering up). Kids loved it and I have a feeling I'm getting a fondue pot for Mother's Day next month but I really want $$ so I can frame my destination blind I showed you.

Did you know that the Sheers that I have hanging in my lounge room are from a shop in New York (I got them via ebay) :-)

Last Q - with you guys just coming out of winter did you have much cold coming in through the windows that weren't furnished?

  13. Toni - The windows are new and we had the contractor add insulation to the frame while we they were working...so we're keeping as much heat in as possible. But yea, its still a little drafty because the windows are uncovered. Im sure the reverse is true when the air conditioning is on for summer. Hopefully the curtains will help.
