Who is ready for October?

As the curtains close on August, my absolute favorite time of year is almost here. Specifically, October. Why is October my favorite? Let me count the ways...

October in NYC is just perfect.

October is the month I celebrate my birthday. And yes, I still insist on making a big deal of it. Check out what we did for the big 3-0 here!

October is also the month Mr. L and I tied the knot. If you want to see how it went down, check out the recap here and here.

And of course, October just happens to hold the most fun holiday - Halloween. Yep, Im getting ready for it. Are you? Check out Halloween's past: 2009 party ; 2009 decor ; 2009 invitation; 2008 decor.

What are you looking forward to this fall?

October is my favorite month too! My birthday falls on the 30th so I always get cool Halloween decorations for my birthday. And I don't care how old you get, birthdays are a big deal!

  4. Living in Calif. we don't get the display of fall like you do on the east coast. I have discovered it is more of an internal feeling for me. I started feeling it a couple of weeks ago. I move into it slowly but surely. In fact I have already done 3 post on fall and how I get in the mood. Todays post is on candles. That is one of the signs for me!! Love the first pict of falling leaves, Kathysue

  9. I love October! I'm looking forward to it finally cooling off in Florida, my husband's and my second wedding anniversary (you can see one of our wedding pictures here: http://hernandohouse.wordpress.com/about/), going to football games in weather that isn't sweltering, and being able to wear my cute green coat again. Ahhh fall :)

I love October because my daughter was born on the 11th. I also am grateful for the cooler weather (no heat or a/c needed--usually)!

  11. October is my favorite month, too! My husband and I met, got engaged and married in October (several years apart, haha). I love the fall leaves, cooler temps, hot cider and Halloween!

  13. Aw, I'm kind of sad to see only one other comment about one of the best things of fall... FOOTBALL! But down here in the south, college football season is what keeps us working hard the rest of the year. When it begins just after Labor Day, the UD house will be neglected so much more because we'll be out of town every weekend. It will be a nice change of pace though; I've been cooped up with no friends for too long! Time to let those paint fumes air out a little more :) I love October for more than just football, but we eatsleepbreathe UGA Bulldawgs in my house.

I'll be making some Halloween-inspired posts as well. I think I actually love it more than Christmas. I'm so glad to read there are so many more October enthusiasts out there!

  14. Fall is my favorite time of the year too. I love when the trees start to change colors and the air gets crisp and you get to start adding layers to your clothes. My husband absolutely loves decorating for Halloween. So he decks our house inside and out in the most tacky (but fun) Halloween decorations. I don't mind the tacky stuff since it's all for fun. We have a huge Halloween party every year to show off the decorations and since Halloween is also my birthday, we celebrate that a little in there too.

  15. October is my favorite month as well, b/c you can detect that change in the air (it's a minor change here in FL, but a change nonetheless.) I love fall fashion, college football and most of all....PUMPKIN SPICE LATTES and PUMPKIN BREAD!

  17. We had a really late summer here in Southern California, and now it's like 95 degrees IN OUR APARTMENT. Basted old apartments without central a/c!

I'm looking forward to scarfs, and my knee high boots. I love bundling up.

  18. I love the crispness in the air and I love the excitement the whole season seems to bring - its like the anticipation of the Holiday season around the corner - but doesn't hold its stress.

My other favorite thing about fall is Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks!

  23. I just flipped through your old blogs of your wedding. Boy, you were beautiful, and the photography was great, and the venues were wonderful! That was some serious NYC swankiness -- the Yale Club? Yikes, that must have set you back a mini-fortune. I *LOVED* the little fortune paper game thing! What a cute idea! :-) LOVE IT ALL!

  24. I've been thinking about fall lately too! I was also married in October on what was the most beautiful day of the year. October can be spectacular! I can't wait for it to finally start turning.

  26. I've been following your blog for a while now & just took a look at those wedding posts (I'm always a sucker for wedding info & pics) and was surprised to realize that I recognized the pictures. I totally remember you from my planning days on WC & used so many details of your wedding as inspiration. I definitely copied your votive candles & think that I remember playing around with your program template to create mine! I loved all of the details in yours, but ended up with a shorter version. Too funny! What a small world

  28. I really love the garden in the autumn. The colours give a display all on their own so less pressure to have flowers everywhere.

Plus kicking big piles of crunchy laves. Heaven!

Fall is my favorite season because:

    1. The Fall fashion issues of magazines are chock full of my favorite kinds of clothes (darker, heavier, more couture [to me anyway]). It gets me in the mood for the season.

    2. Good, crisp apples, which are my favorite fruit. Right now apples are mealy and icky, which makes me eat summer fruits, but miss my daily Granny Smiths, etc.

    3. Nesting, bundling up, layering up.

    4. Inspired in part by this blog, I bought and am renovating a 100 year old house. This fall, I am looking forward to installing a wood burning stove and enjoying the simple pleasure of sitting in front of it and planning more improvements/decoration.

  30. I like the look of autumn but hate the clean up of leaves.

  31. I was just telling someone October and November are my favorite months. What's not to love? Fabulous foliage, crisp cool air, the arrival of Pumpkin Spice lattes at Starbucks, and other hot drinks. And of course, Fall fashions. It's the time of year to break out the cordouroy slacks, cashmere sweaters,
and boots. Comfy cozy clothes. Can't wait!
