Little Room Complete!

In my nearly 5 years of Brooklyn Limestone, I don't think I've ever called a room really and truly finished before. There is always something I want to add or change. Well guess what? I'm calling one done.

Thanks to my favorite find at Brimfield, I'm feeling pretty happy with how my little room looks now. Sure, its not perfect. I never got around to getting a big glass top made (but I'm not sure I need it since I've been using it without for so long) but enough is enough.

Here it is before and during the renovation

Even though its tiny, I've put quite a lot of time (but not a lot of money) in making it what I wanted: A little bit old but feminine. If you missed the sporadic updates over the past few years, here are the cliffnotes: After we renovated, I had to beat back my internal slob, then I made a new friend, then I turned a found door into a desk workspace , hung a birdcage, laid a flor rug and finally, made an ephemera inspired window treatment.

Of course the ultimate irony now is that I'm fully planning on changing it up in here to solve card catalog "problem". That means the desk is going to get cut which means the art work has to change configuration (at least) and who knows what else I'll do in here. But that is definitely a 2012 project. Now if I could only feel as complete with the rest of the house!

Thanks. Yep, this is the box room. Took a few years but I finally rid myself of calling it that.

  12. I always loved your box room - it made me feel 'normal' and that you were a real, live person who blogged about their house :-) It gives this room a real history!

  14. Yes, the chair is PERFECT in there. One room "complete" is such a great feeling to have. The only "completed" room in my house is our first floor bathroom, ha! But I love the feeling I have when I'm in there. And at 38 weeks pregnant, I'm in there quite a lot these days ;-)

The card catalog will fit in great, as well...  :)

  17. So pretty! I have a door table as well and used a sheet of plexiglass instead of actual glass as a top. I found it to be quite durable (doesn't scratch like crazy like I thought it would) and it is waaaay cheaper than glass.

Love the room! Are these the original floors? They look a lot like the before picture, but I wasn't sure if it was possible to sand out the water damage. Curious since we have the same issue.

  27. The floors are mostly original. Where there was water damage, we took some extra flooring from other rooms (for example where we made a bathroom from a bedroom) to use for the repair.
