Wood Spoon Valentine

We don't do a big thing for V day nor is Aggie old enough to give out any of those adorable kid valentine cards.  That doesn't mean the day should go totally without note so I cooked up this grown-up Valentine - a personalized wooden spoon.

It's super simple and cheap but also practical.  I think it will be a fun little reminder whenever we cook.  They would also make a fun wedding gift tag or hostess gift.

I simply freehanded a heart with our initials, traced over the doodle with a wood burning tool and added a little black trim to the handles with a sharpie.  Cost less than $2 and it will be a nice little reminder when each of us are cooking for the other.

What about you?  Am I the only one in blogland without a full blown Valentine Day bash?

  1. That is really cute and easy! We do not go crazy for Valentines day. A few touches here and there.

  2. I am single so naturally I don't make a big deal of Valentines Day. However, it was once a big to me as it was my wedding anniversary. And in some ways it is still a memorable day- 12 years ago I spent it in the hospital giving birth to my son who was born early on the 15th :)

Now the only taste of Valentines day that I get is helping my teenage son pick out presents for his girlfriend. Young love will make you appreciate the day even if you don't celebrate it :)

  3. So cute!! I already have those spoons that I use to serve salad (student budget calls for cheap utensils). We do nothing big for Valentine's Day, we try to spend the day or evening together. We plan on casually visiting Lille (north of France) this year. Also, Valentine's Day is best know as the anniversary of the day I got my driving license!! 7 years already! An easy date to remember haha!

  4. So sweet! I'll make one for my boyfriend. Every time he makes our favourite pasta he'll think of me:)
