July 4th Stoop

I generally save all my holiday decorating mojo for Halloween but I decided to make an exception this year and decorate our front stoop for the July 4th. Nothing crazy - just a few simple elements to make it festive that took a few minutes to put up.

A couple of barn stars, inexpensive american flag and red lanterns.  Still loving our black front doors that serve as a great backdrop for anything I put up there.

Last but not least, I finally got an new stoop gnome. Our last little guy suffered a tragic accident at the hands of a toddler so it was time for a new model.  I like to keep moving it around to keep the neighborhood kids guessing.

  1. I've been eyeing a few different garden gnomes online. Did you pick your little guy up locally? I'd love to find somewhere in town that has them.

    1. No I ordered it on Amazon. I haven't seen them in any stores in Brooklyn (but maybe try some of the garden supply centers?). I did see some other styles at Christmas Tree Shops but that definitely isn't close by.

  2. Only you could make barn stars not look country. I love it! God bless America!

This looks great. I have that same gnome, however, mine is getting a bit "tired" after braving the elements for many years. I love how you move him around so the neighborhood kids have something to look forward to when they pass your stoop. Wow - just noticed your front light - that is gorgeous! Vikki in VA.

  6. LOVE! The 4th is one of my favs! You've inspired me to do more this year!
BTW, I know you used to do some DIY sharing of other's projects. I just posted my IKEA hack. I can take some better after photos if you plan to use or share, just let me know -Lindsay http://herlingevents.blogspot.com/2014/06/new-media-console-ikea-hack.html
