Get your oohs and ahhhs ready because not only do I have another guest to share their favorite nook today but its about a 10 on the adorable richter scale. Don't go peeking now!

If you don't already know them well, Rambling Renovators are masters of the built in. Aside from having generally great taaste, they bend a room to their will by adding carpentry in the most perfect way possible. Seeing is believing...

I’ve been an avid reader of Mrs. Limestone’s blog for a few years now and have found tons of inspiration in her renovations, decorating and craft projects. I’m so thrilled to guest post here and share with her readers my favourite nook.

My favourite nook is our nursery / guest bedroom which we renovated last spring, finishing just in time for our little daughter Chloe’s birth. This room was a blank slate as you can see in this Before photo… there was no storage, no architectural details, and no personality! Transforming it into a room for a little girl would take some imagination and elbow grease.
RR1
The imagination part was easy; we just put into the room all the things I wanted as a little girl:

A wall lined with books, and a comfy chair for baby to sit on mommy’s lap…
RR2

A pretty chandelier and colourful artwork…
RR3

And a cozy window seat, a place to read and slumber and dream away…

RR4

Our daughter still sleeps in her crib in our bedroom, so this room is where we take afternoon naps, read books, look at the world outside our window and giggle and crawl on the bed (when there isn’t a guest sleeping over)!

RR5

This room is my most favourite nook for many reasons. I love that it will be the place where Chloe first learns about colour, texture, shape, design, art, and space. We have placed in it the things we love and appreciate, in the hopes that someday our daughter will love them too. I know that it will change and transform over the years, as our daughter fills it up with her own personality and tastes, and that will be exciting to see. But maybe, even when boy-band posters have filled the walls and the creamy yellow has been painted purple, we can still sit by the window and think fondly about this room that was made with love for a little girl who made our family complete.

  2. I love the chandelier and the artwork. It's perfect for a baby girl, but not something that will need to be changed out in a few years.

Beautiful, sweet room for a beautiful, sweet baby! Love those built-ins. Is that a DIY-able project, or did you need a contractor?

  20. Thanks for the kind comments everyone! And thanks again MrsLimestone for having me over.

PhillyLass - the built-ins are definitely a DIY project, no contractors required. We used two Ikea Pax wardrobes and filled in the gaps between the wardrobe and walls with pieces of MDF.

  22. Mrs. Limestone,
This is off-topic of this post but concerning the bedspread in your master; did you buy a size larger, say a king for a queen size bed, since I noticed how the spread comes almost to the floor? Duvet cover type spreads usually only go a little ways down, whereas true bedspreads usually go to the floor more like yours. Also, I love it and wish I had a patter to make it...

  26. Another favorite blogger of mine! I adore the Rambling Renovaters and their little darling Chloe. Judging from her stylish, design savvy, DIY parents, she's got some good genes!

Such attention to detail, right down to the tiny bird perched on the light switchplate!
