Tiny Beach Bunk Room in Progress

As you probably already know, I don't like to post photos of unfinished rooms but this bunk bed took the better part of the weekend to put together and paint (in between pool and beach runs) so it's something to celebrate.  I'm not usually one to be daunted by Ikea furniture but this bad boy had A LOT of pieces.  Thank goodness for the Mr. - he did it all while I got to admire the finished product. Pregnancy has it's advantages!

Despite the effort involved in putting it together, I really can't complain much since the price of $169 really can't be beat. And it's quite sturdy at that!

As you might have guessed Agatha was excited about the whole thing with frequent offers of "help" and celebratory dance at its completion. We did have to clarify the idea that she would not be occupying the top bunk until she was a little bit older (tears ensued) but all was well after a good night's sleep here.

I think it looked kinda cool with this two tone paint effect but it didn't really work with what I wanted the finished space to look like so the whole thing is white now.  Now it's time to outfit the rest of the room which will be much more fun.

  1. As a kid I was afraid to sleep on the second floor of such beds.
