Hung!

The spooky frightened girl painting has now been hung. I heart it.

In case you're trying to orientate yourself, this is the wall opposite of the built in.

As Mr. Limestone pointed out, the Metropolitan Musuem of Art won't be phoning me for my services but it got the job done.

Since we had picture rail running through this floor, I wanted to use it. (Mostly because Im freaked about putting a hole in the newly repaired plaster!) I ordered the hooks from House of Antique Hardware and used some picture wire from Home Depot.

Its not quite finished though. It leans just a little bit so Im going to add a couple of those felt furniture feet floor protecters to the back. The recessed light above needs to get some new trim to make it a wall washer to highlight the painting. And I think I need to layer a small accent chair here. Not this one (which is destined for my office) but a chair is in order. Once I have my living room furniture in place, I can hunt for something in here.

I realize its not a priceless masterpiece but I do love it. For those that don't appreciate my taste, Ill be happy to accept a donation of something more pleasing. For your shopping convenience, my favorite painting can be found at the National Gallery. :)

Stunning! Lovely to see someone actually using a picture rail.

  4. pve - haha. Someone once likened this painting to something by Thomas Kinkade (barf!) I really don't think its anything like one of his paintings but its probably not in the fine art category either. Thats okay with me...I like it.

  5. Absolutely perfect! Art is such a personal thing...who cares what others think as long as it makes YOU happy!!!! The best pieces are the ones that make you smile every time you pass by :o) Have a great week!

  6. Yay, that's the same hook we used (from HoAH) to hang the mirror over our mantle. We used the simplest non-heavy-duty ones for the rest of our art, in the brushed pewter color, but I need to place another order with them for more. I love our picture rail--our walls are in no state to poke holes and expect anything to stay hung; in the rooms with no picture rail we've had to sink screws in the molding to hang anything...sigh.

  7. kate f- What kind of wire did you use? I used 50lb wire since its what I had and it looks fine but there is probably a better way.

  9. I love it. But that doesn't matter because art is personal and it's your space. You are so talented. What an eye!

  10. You are so funny! I think it looks great. I can't hang pictures to save my life so it's always nice to see that talent has been given someone (bitter, party of one). The Girl picture creeps me out a little, I'm going to be honest. But I always say that you have to be happy with the art you live with, and if you like it, who gives a flying youknowwhat?!

  12. Love the painting - and considering I have some twisted taste in art sometimes (both in my work and in my loves).

I can appreciate you not wanting to damage the walls of course - not sure I would've used that solution but I can appreciate it!
