Its snowing. Again!

Not evident from the photo above is that its really coming down out there. Burrr. Got to admit, I'll a little sick of winter already. I know, its only January so I need to toughen up. Truer words have never been spoken.

And speaking of toughening up, I've had not one but two experiences this weekend with people that suck! The first one with the Craigslist seller who promised to hold the nightstands for me and then sold them an hour before I got there. What the &%*#? Its not the nightstand but rather that she knew I was cancelling plans to drive out to pick them up and she could care less. The second person was the 'winner' of one of my ebay auctions who refuses to pay for the item or reimburse me for the fees. What is wrong with people? Is there no personal accountability or general courtesy anymore? I won't go into a rant here but its people like these two that undermine the fabric of a decent society. Grrr... Deep breathes, Count to ten, all that.

On the bright side, had a productive weekend scouting New Jersey for a few furniture pieces as well as a couple of other finds. More in my next post.

  1. And I'm having the exact opposite experience with an ebay seller who won't send me what I already paid for! and also won't answer any of my email inquiries about why I don't have it already???! Grrrr.

And, really, I'm not trying to rub it in by saying that I'm sitting here in sunny California and it's supposed to be 67 degrees today. Really....I've lived many years in the Midwest and I would LOVE to have some snow..and four seasons, not just a measly two.

  3. First time visit to your blog. Great view of the snow. We have too much here too. In Boston.

I could do a rant about the loss of courtesy in our world. Happens every day. Sorry to hear of your experiences with mean people.

I'm off to read more of your posts-you have a lovely blog.

  6. Uggh...people are jerks, plain and simple.

Hopefully you found something way better in New Jersey! : )

  7. 1. I'm jealous of your snow day.
    2. For every good experience I've had with Craigslist I've had five bad ones to counteract it. I expect nothing when making transactions in order to avoid being disappointed.

  8. Colorful life - Feel free to rub it in. Its your right as someone who moved to more pleasant weather to remind all of us dopes who still subject themselves to the torture of winter :)

Newburgh - Not sure where you would get the idea I live in the ghetto but I assure you, I do not.

Chatelaine - Welcome! Hope to see you again soon.

  9. Hi there! Happy New Year! I haven't commented in a while but I've been keeping up with you and your fabulous self! =D

I'm sorry you've had to deal with dumb people! It really is mind blowing, isn't it??? How do these people get through their daily lives? Do they have jobs? Do they have friends? I can't imagine! If this is how they treat others...GRRRR! I'm right there with you! Mean people totally suck!

I'm also with you in the whole "I'm completely OVER winter" mood! I'm actually looking forward to the 30 degree weather we're supposed to get in Michigan on Thursday...ridiculous! I've lived here my whole life and yet...I HATE being cold!

So, here's hoping you have a great week despite the weather and a few dumb people!

  10. I would love to live on your street! Love reading your blog and watching the renovation. It's fabulous! We are beginning our own renovation, which I am very excited about, but equally dreading the process.

  12. I love your new banner - very chic girl!

Yes, some days it's like the world is full of a**holes. Then the next day, it's all puppies and sunshine and niceness. Fortunately, the world has a lot of amazing folks. Just none of them live in NYC. Just kidding - I have always enjoyed my visits there and everyone was very kind. There are losers everywhere sister. You are not alone in wanting to deck a few today.

    :)

  13. Hi. In your next post, would you mind mentioning the places in NJ where you went furniture shopping? I live in NYC and am always looking for great antiques stores or furniture stores in NY, NJ or CT.

    Thanks!

  20. Hi - Just spent some time looking at your blog -- what fun!

I'm sorry about your Craigslist woman -- not cricket, selling those things out from under you. We've been finding things to furnish our old house in NJ thru Craigslist and Ebay, and so far -- so good. Great people, thank goodness, and terrific buys -- even free.

And thanks for the tip about Englishtown Antiques! I can't afford to buy the period antiques we bought decades ago but I love that "old used" stuff -- don't get the point of new furniture, at all, except upholstery!

    I'll be back....

PS A box room? Fantastic. Makes me miss our Pittsburgh row house!
